It is a flat transaction fee charged on the debit of shares from the demat account. This fee is levied once per scrip per day, make sure you remember that.

DP charges in Kotak Securities are tabulated below:

Let’s move ahead to check how Kotak Securities DP charges are actually calculated.

Kotak Securities DP Charges Calculator

The one question that might be occurring in your mind right now is how dp charges are calculated in Kotak Securities. It is a very simple process.

For example, a scrip is worth ₹10,000, then the dp charges on that will be:

0.04% of 10,000= 4+NSDL charges. Since the minimum payable amount is ₹27, the DP charges here will be ₹27.

As we mentioned earlier that the DP charges are according to per scrip and not the volume, here is an example explaining that.

Suppose you want to sell 5 shares worth ₹2,000 each.

Transaction 1:

3 shares, the dp charges here will be 0.04% of the securities and NSDL charges

1 share= ₹2000

3 shares= ₹6000.

DP charges= ₹2.4 (0.04% of 6000)

The minimum payable amount is ₹27, so you will have to pay at least ₹27.

Transaction 2:

For 2 shares worth ₹4000

DP Charges= ₹1.6 (0.04% of 4000)

Minimum DP Charges= ₹27

This means that you’d need to pay ₹27 again.

Right? Wrong!

As mentioned earlier, DP charges are levied only once per day per scrip and in transaction#1, these charges were already levied. So, you don’t pay any DP charges on the second transaction.

However, imagine your transaction 2 happened on day 2 and your turnover was beyond 1 Lakh rupees.

In that case, you’d have paid 0.04% X 1000000 i.e.100, and not ₹27 as your DP charge in Kotak Securities.

Conclusion
